Mannochmore is one of the youngest distilleries in Speyside, founded in 1971. Just like its neighbour Glenlossie, Mannochmore is an important part of the famous Haig blend. Signatory bottled this Mannochmore that matured on a South African sherry cask. That seems somewhat special.

The nose is rather dry, but very sweet. Big influence of the sherry cask. Hazelnuts and almonds, raisins, butterscotch and some spices. The fruit translates into peach and a bit of Pink Lady apples, skin included. Pleasant.

A very spicy kick to the teeth, but nicely fruity. The sherry is rather dry again. Evolves towards black tea, without becoming bitter. Wonderful trace of smoke. Nice!

The finish is medium long, spicy and leaves the mouth bone-dry.

Yes, this was a very pleasant surprise.
