This 1999 expression is an indie bottling by Douglas Laing and is from cask 9766.

This is the first expression I have tried from this distillery. Mannochmore is a Speyside distillery founded in 1971. Home of the infamous Loch Dhu (Black Whisky) it has a chequered past. This expression could not be further from Loch Dhu in terms of colour as it is incredibly pale.

The nose is light, floral, vanilla, apple peel, slightly dry.

Palate: soft mouth feel, lightly spiced, pears, oak and vanilla.

Finish – white pepper, drying, fading green fruits. Short to medium in length.

It is very pleasant. It is a nice gentle whisky which does everything right without being memorable. An easy drinker which goes down well.
