Clontarf Classic Blend is aged in bourbon barrels. There is no age statement on the bottle. Jim Murray reports that Clontarf Classic Blend was originally distilled at Cooley Distillery, but is more recently distilled at Midleton Distillery
Nose: slightly sweet, some malt, citrus, honey
Taste: very pleasant malt with some strong lemon and grapefruit citrus and honey. The taste is very smooth. The malt vis a vis the citrus creates something of a 'sweet and sour' effect
Finish: long and consistent flavour throughout the finish
Balance: this is a very coherent blend, which I like. As you would expect, this is less malty in flavour than the Clontarf Single Malt, but the malt is still very apparent. Those who like citrus with their malt flavour will probably like this. Those who don't like to taste citrus will probably not like this at all
