To celebrate 100 years of industry on the Clydebank, Morrison Distillers released a stone crock with 12 years old Auchentoshan, but also this blend with no age statement. I think it is a safe bet to assume that this also contains quite a bit of Auchentoshan. The blend was released in 1986, making it liquid history.

The nose is very sweet and floral, with citrussy notes up front and wood in the back. Lavender, caramel and burnt cake. Far from earth shattering, let alone interesting.

It is quite sharp and spicy, but it also immediately flirts with perfume. There is hardly any fruit on the palate. This is alla bout oak and caramel with some pepper and licquorice. I would not be surprised if this contained Auchentoshan 1984, notorious for its FWP. Those who have no idea what I mean, no worries: ignorance is bliss.

The finish is mercilessly long and dry.

I love Auchentoshan and am 100% certain that the bulk of this bottle is just that, but it is hardly worth the effort. Almost astringent. Not everything that is history is also worthy of memory. Only if you leave it to breathe for at least ten minutes before sipping it does it becomes somewhat quaffable.
