North Port distillery is no more. It closed in 1983 and was demolished in 1990. At the site, there is currently a supermarket. The distillery started out as Brechin distillery, a name that can also be seen on many labels, including on this one from independent bottler Gordon & Macphail.

The waxy nose (candlewax, furniture polish) offers mostly citrus and loads of hay. Rather grainy and malty. A hint of caramel but little more.

On the palate, it quickly goes down the bitter road. Some white fruit and a lot of spices. White pepper and mostly mustard seeds. Hay again. Or rather freshly cut grass. It does not make my socks go up and down, if you know what I mean. Midpalate, I get a salty touch and a little bit of smoke.

The finish is medium long and grassy.

Well, this is nothing more than history in the glass. Thanks though, Arnout.
