In 2009 Brown-Forman of Louisville, Kentucky made a one-time 2,700 case release of a 13 year old Old Forester Bourbon celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Repeal of Prohibition in the U.S. The bourbon is sold in 375 ml bottles in a set which includes a tulip-shaped Old Forester glass and a scroll with the text of the 21st Amendment to the US Constitution, which repealed the 18th Amendment

Nose: sweet oak, maple, caramel, vanilla, faint citrus, spice

Taste: explosive spicy flavours, much stronger than in the nose, very strong wood flavours, vanilla, caramel, and an alcohol bite that seems more barrel proof than a mere 100 proof. There is a very aggressive statement of the spice flavours first, and then a second or two later the intense wood flavours enter. Sweet follows the spicy and remains. Caramel and vanilla are noticeable as part of the wood-given flavours

Finish: the big taste remains long in time, with spice exiting before the wood flavours

Balance: I really love this bourbon, and have not been able to duplicate it with the more commonly available 100 proof Old Forester Signature, which has no age statement and is conjectured to be 4-5 years old. I don't know another bourbon that tastes just like this one, and would recommend it to anyone who loves a very spicy bourbon. I am a high-ABV kind of guy who usually likes a high alcohol greeting. As mentioned above, the alcohol in this one comes across much bigger than 50% ABV. I am very hopeful that I will run into another boxed set somewhere so that I will have more supply when I all-too-soon finish the current bottle
