Port Charlotte is (still) not a distillery, although it was one long ago. Port Charlotte is produced at Bruichladdich by using a different mash bill. Malts of Scotland has bottled quite a few already. For me, this is the 20th Port Charlotte and the 9th from the warehouses of this German bottler. There you go.

The nose is fatty and farmy, with loads of citrus notes and cow hide. So nil nove sub sole so far, which is good news. A nice, but very discrete, medicinal touch. Somewhat coastal as well. After a few minutes some hints of tobacco and pistachio nuts arrive. Nice.

Good full mouthfeel. Powerful and spicy. Different peppers, peat galore and even some tar. Becomes quite big ont he palate. Surprisingly sweet with a salty twist. A lot fruitier than the nose promised.Think grapefruit, but also oranges and pears. Very, very good!

The finish lasts forever and makes you long for a glass of water. A longing which you put off for as long as you can, obviously.

Nice nose, but on the palate it shows its true colors. A sturdy Port Charlotte, whose profile is very close to that of the official PC10. A bottle will set you back around 140 EUR.
