The Nectar of the Daily Drams is a Belgian bottler and importer. Three years ago they released this Port Ellen 1982 and people have whispered into my ear that it is absolutely stunning. Well, how can I not try it then?

Stellar nose on soft smoke, soft minerals and a truckload of silt. Hint of hay. Wet rocks. Sea breeze. Fresh lemon juice sprinkled on a dried herring. Smokering wood. Pears. After ten minutes, it turns nicely sweet on vanilla and even some white chocolate, truly! This is wonderfully complex.

Sturdy attack on minerals and fruit from the nose. Beautiful mouthfeel. Perfect strength. But the fruit is quickly conquered by a huge salty taste. Brackish, in fact! Midpalate a whole lot of citrus appears. Besides the lemon juice, some bitterness as if from lime peel or grapefruit emerges. Not once does the oak raise its voice. Sweet smoke. Outstanding!

The long finish remains salty and smoky until the death.

A brackish PE that really makes me wild (which it is not a pretty sight).
