The best known bottler from Scotland, with HQ in Eglin, already released more than 30 Rosebank, including quite a few under their Connoisseurs Choice label. This one was distilled in February 1990 and bottled in March 2005, from a refill sherry hogshead. Undoubtedly this was a cask at the end of its lifespan, for the dram has the color of white wine.

Well, the nose proves otherwise. Very fruity on apple and pear, with a hint of apricots. Loads of breakfast cereals. The sugared version. My daughter whispers ‘Frosties’ in my ear. A lot of vanilla. Very soft and accessible, as we are used to from Rosebank.

It is a bit oily, but very fresh on the palate. Citrus is bigger than on the nose. Green apples, too. The influence of the sherry cask is rather limited. Some confit ginger. Lightly floral. Very nice. Very quaffable.

The finish is neither long nor short. Sweet on candied citrus peel and mild spices.

The is the ideal malt to put on the table when chatting with friends on a sunny terrace.
