Tasting Notes by markjedi1

This Springbank was bottled last year by Murray McDavid at the Bruichladdich distillery (which they owned at the time) and released under the Mission Gold label. It is very pale, despite having matured on a refill sherry cask.

The nose is slightly mineraly and somewhat dusty. I am reminded of jute. But it mostly offers up sweet touches of hard pineapple candy and gooseberries. Some honey and beeswax give it a nice weight. A hint of warm wood shavings. I kinda like this.

On the palate, the spices show themselves first. Good attack, slightly creamy and very sweet. The same fruit as on the nose, accompanied by oranges and grapefruit. Hefty helping of pepper. This does not need water.

The finish is spicy and sweet.

A rather straightforward Springbank, but very good for those with a sweet tooth. I enjoy this.
