This is a repackaged and re-launched 18yr Tamdhu, so ideally I would compare it to its predecessor, however this is the first Tamdhu I’ve tried so I can’t do that! And it’s described as a “Distillery Bottling” so it’s a bit special compared to its previous incarnation.

This was a fairly random purchase from the Whisky Exchange website, and I am glad I made it. It’s very mellow, and extremely easy to drink, which is probably why it’s not lasted too long in my collection! It has a lovely light aroma, it’s not overpowering at all. Upon drinking this you pick up a bit of fruit, but as I mentioned earlier it’s very mellow and even gentle as the tasting notes on the packaging suggest. It glides down your throat and leaves you wanting more, and I was more than happy to oblige myself!

It’s a fairly dark colour, but that’s to be expected with the malt being rather more sherried than it’s previous version. I have since found out that this is a “Dearly Departed” whisky and the bottling was discontinued, therefore I am glad I was able to enjoy it before it disappeared for good!
