In 2013 The Lost Distillery Company introduced this Auchnagie: a blended malt composed of present-day malts, forming a representation of this lost distillery. It was to operational in Pitlochry, close to Edradour, from 1812 until 1911. John Dewar was the last owner. He also built Aberfeldy. When the Highland Railway reached to Aberfedly, but not to Auchnagie, the fate of Auchnagie was sealed.

Mild and sweet nose on white fruit with apples and pears in the lead, followed by some peach. A touch metallic as if it has been poursed from a can. Mild spiciness. Delicate fellow.

On the palate, all is quite light as well. White fruit, peach and even some mango. Lemon juice. And then some earthy peat shines through, albeit in the background.

The finish is not really long, yet spicy to begin with until it turns delicate again. Vanilla at the death.

Not a grand whisky - far from it - but a nice aperitif. And a good story, too.
