The Talisman is a whisky blend from Tomatin, 40% ABV, metal cap. I bought it for $10.00 at the local liquor store. What can you expect from a cheap whisky?

Some hints of fruits and honey in the nose. Quite some peatiness and notes of grain alcohol. Nice combination of sweetness, malt and peat on the palate, not too lingering, but definitely present. Not very complex, neither a long finish, but smooth; leaves a satisfying sweet taste in the mouth. The smokiness becomes dominant, a good campfire whisky.

All in all, a very pleasant surprise. I have not tried any of Tomatin's single malts, but this one is a good raw material for a promising Highlander.

Agreed. Good bang for the buck.
