I need to add a bottle to my order with an online seller to get free shipping, I'm thinking the Dun Bheagan Islay 8yo perhaps? Purportedly Lagavulin which should be interesting, and reviews I've seen seem to suggest it's not a bad drop either.

@MacBaker62 Lucky you! I'm interested in seeing what you think of those, the Nadurra in particular as I have a bottle in my cabinet (also received for my birthday one year). Cheers

Just set it up so I'm going to be blowing ALOT of money on whisky in the next few months :D Had my sister store set aside the bottle of Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Straight Rye they have for me ($250) and they're ordering me two bottles of George T. Stagg 2012 for my brother in law and me ($250 each)

@SquidgyAsh the 2012 Stagg is awesome. You're paying a lot for it, but it is absolutely stellar. I'm drinking some now :-)

@cpstecroix Sounds AWESOME! Victor was telling me how good it was so I asked my brother in law if he'd like the new release (since he's currently drinking the 2011 I bought him :D) I've heard it was better then the 2011 which while I thought was good, wasn't as awesome as one that I'd had before (really not sure what release it was and don't know if I ever will know :()

Sadly that's really cheap for a Stagg over here :( I've seen them hit over $400 AUS which is too much to pay for a bottle in my opinion. I look forward to tasting notes though!!

Ordered a bottle of the latest Octomore 5.1 should arrive in a few days.. and coming Saturday I plan to invest in Old Pulteney 21 yo, Laphroaig Brodir 13 yo and Elements of Islay Lg3.

Interested in trying them all out, maybe the Pulteney and Octomore more so than the others if I should try rank them.

Work took me out of town for a few days once again, so I took the last day to rummage through some stores I'd never been in. Found some Aberlour A'Bunadh, which isn't a big deal because it's readily available. This A'Bunadh, however, was three bottles from Batch #8, which was bottled in 2001. I grabbed two and left the other for another lucky soul. Also grabbed a Lagavulin 12 Year Old 11th release & two Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength, Batch #2.

I'd also been looking for a few months for some Elijah Craig 18 Year Old Single Barrel to stock up on since it's being discontinued. One of my favorite bourbons, but all the local places I knew I could get it have been sold out for awhile. Found one old, dusty store that had five of them, and I snagged two.

I have a couple american whiskey's I'm super excited to bust out. This week I'm going to open up my Clear Creek Single Malt (from Oregon...and very solid) and a Wild Turkey Bourbon - an old, exceptional favorite of mine. I'm on a bit of a American whiskey kick right now and have been tasting a few awesome whiskeys coming out of California. Scotch is taking a bit of a backseat for now...

I'm visiting Berlin right now and had the Cadenhead shop in Mainzer Str. 20, 10247 Berlin - Friedrichshain recommended to me. They have a lot of interessting whiskies on the shelves but I only bought 2 :-)

  1. Talisker 18 years I had almost given up on finding that one after hearing a lot of good things about it and having visited the distillery on my Whisky tour of Scotland in 2010.

  2. Connemara Cask Strength (peated single malt irish whiskey) This one looked very interesting and was only about half as expensive as the Talisker so on a whim i bought that, and I was pleasently surprised to come back to my rented appartment and read the reviews here on Connosr.

I'm really lokking forward to taste these two whiskies.

The Glenmorangie Astar caught my eye, and for $50 it seems like a good value...From what I've read - many here claim it do be a nice dram.

@Rune Great choice, the Laga 16. I love the 12 CS more, but the 16 is excellent when you aren't looking for a kick in the head. I also have the DE Laga, which is sherried, but also very good. Can't go wrong with Lagavulin!
