Newbie to bourbon, the regular scotch in the house when growing up was Bells or Grouse and I found the aroma made me gag. As I have aged so has my palate and although still ignored scotch due to memory of the smell I started having the occasional JD n coke. Christmas 2014 my wife bought me Makers Mark which opened my eyes to the world of bourbon and not looked back. Even to the point I have now bought, tried and enjoyed Aberlour 10 never thought I would try scotch.

6 months on confirmed I have caught the bug, progressed with easy transition to Speyside sherried malts, now even tried an Islay at bar while not my favourite nose the taste was fine Laphroaig is a little much for me yet. Japanese next then maybe India then back to USA for some Rye.

Approaching 18 months think I am now becoming a peat head Ardbeg 10 tick, Laphroaig 10 and quarter cask tick, Kilchoman Coull Point tick, Lagavulin 16 bought not open yet, and Octomore 6.3 bought and put away for my 50th in 2019. Still like my bourbon when I find time but so many malts to try. Just ordered the new Port Charlotte CC01 and 2 bottles of Glenfiddich 125 th anniversary from travel retail which they have confirmed put away for July.
