Elixir Distillers is the name of the company under which Sukhinder Singh of The Whisky Exchange itself bottles malts. Last year this 'A Speyside Distillery' appeared on the market, in which the origin of the malt is jealously kept secret. It turns out to be a vatting of three barrels.

Deliciously sweet nose on raisins, candied plums, pecans, red berry jam and apricot pastry. I am teleported to Easter Elchies.

That is perfectly continued on the palate, but with a good spiciness in the mix. Think black pepper, mint, cloves and cinnamon. Licorice, too. The fruit evolves from plums to rather fresh red fruits such as berries and strawberries and then returns to acacia honey and salted caramel. Delicious! And yes, I'm still at the same destination.

Nice and long, warm, spicy and dark sweet finish.

If that's not Macallan, then I will eat my socks. Thanks to Tom from Buds & Barrels for the sample.
