Interesting conclusion. I've seen quite a few single malts increase 100% in the last several years.

I've seen prices rising at the LCBO. Amrut Fusion is up $10-15 since it was released. Balvenie 15 YO single cask went up about 25% . The 15 YO available now (not sure if it's the sherry version) is $185, about 70-80 more than I paid in 2011.
In contrast, A'Bunadh has gone up 10 cents in 4 years.

Cyprus is a small island in the Mediterranean but for the record, prices have stayed more or less the same for Scottish blends. But with the big expansion of single malt consumption, whisky buyers have been spending more for single malts and recently with the new NAS whiskies companies have managed to retain high prices for "special" (younger) whiskies. So yes, we end up paying more.!!!

@Nozinan I have seen the availability of certain expression drive their price up. Balvine 15 one of them.
@bourbondrinker Your observation of standard expressions holding there price is what I think the articles are about. Barring limited edition or discontinued spirits, how has the price of Standard spirits changed?
What did these standards cost in years past compared to today's prices, adjust for inflation. Are we paying more or less than our grandfathers had to pay?

@broadwayblue, In the past year alone Highland Park 25 yrs. has climbed from the outrageously high price of CDN$385 (all taxes included) to the completely absurd asking of CDN$650 at our government monopoly, LCBO.

Knowing the trends of pricing I decided to buy up the last of the Balvenie 15 yr Sherry Cask that was on the shelf for $85.
As expected - the price now a few weeks later is $105.

@paddockjudge that makes the HP 30 a bargain @$751. Only $20 per extra year, and $25.03 per year, as opposed to the 25 YO at $26/yr.

Whiskey is more affordable today according to a few articles I've recently read. Interesting reading for you whiskey intellectuals out there.

I've seen Scotch prices rise 30% over the last 4 years, while the price of Bourbon has gone up it's closer to 10% here in the U.S. What are you all seeing in your corner of the world?
