Nose: summer meadows, apple orchards. Lemony-fresh, with traces of vanilla perfume. A bit of wood polish. Vibrant and enticing.

Taste: medium-bodied with a lovely surge of sweetness augmented by spice. Certainly fruity with that sour apple flavour but then you get notes of dark chocolate and toasted coconut. Tastes like a fresh young malt bolstered by the richness of sherry casks. Think of a lighter, more lively Aberlour 10.

Finish: the sherry casks leave a bit of sourness that I'm not crazy about. But the lingering oaky sweetness sure is nice.

Balance: the perfect malt for a summer afternoon. I love the freshness of the aroma and the zesty citric flavours. This is exactly what I look for in a sherried Speyside malt. The slightly funky finish throws off the balance somewhat but doesn't hinder my enjoyment much at all. Some might find it a bit too tangy. I find it immensely satisfying and dangerously drinkable.

Nice review!

The 'Peter Arkle' NAS single malts by Ancnoc are quite nice (I've had #2, 3, and 4 - my favorite being #3 'Bricks').

This is 1 NAS whisky that I'll miss...Guess I better find an online retailer to stock up.
