Has anyone tried the 2015 Angel's Envy Cask Strength? My guy at the local liquor store called to let me know they just got in a bottle for sale at $200. I've read good things online but still have a tough time with the price so was wondering if anyone out there has a strong opinion of it one way or the other.

@InGreatSpirits I've had the 2015 and the 2014. Both great. MSRP for the bottle is actually around $175. I can buy them at Specs with Cash for less than $165.

It is far superior to the standard Angel's Envy. When my 2014 bottle is empty I would consider buying another addition. There are however several bottles I would buy before purchasing an AECS. Things like EH Taylor Barrel Proof and Elijah Craig Barrel Proof.

My opinion is that if you enjoy the standard AE, the AECS will blow you away both in terms of the additional port aging and the added depth of flavor and quality of the bourbon used. Is it really worth more that $150 or $200. I can't really tell you that.

thanks for the input @newreverie. I've had two different batches of both the Taylor Barrel Proof and EC Barrel Proof which I thought were very good bottles at a significantly lower price. I traveled down to Texas for work the other day and picked up a pair of bottles at Spec's that still came in under $200 with tax (Kilkerran WIP 7 CS Bourbon and Kilchoman Loch Gorm) so given how many good things are still out there that I have yet to try and at lower price points, I think I may hold off on the AECS for now unless I see it at a lower price point somewhere or at a bar.
