I'd take 3 at that price if I could. The bottle's in Colorado are a joke, such a slim allocation.

@DevD Thanks for the heads up. I am RUNNING to the store to pick some up!

It's good. I think $50 is a correct price. Personally my favorite sub $100 Ardbeg is the 10 year old. I like the others but if I had to pick just one... If I see Alligator for $50 I will snag it. Thank you for the post.

@Wodha I can confirm the price. I just picked up a bottle in Seattle. Make sure to call the store & check quantities (the web resource isn't up-to-the-minute). The store I bought it at didn't actually have it on the shelf — they said they had it over the phone, and when I came in they got it from the back. So I'd say Seattle area quantities are winding down.

@evarees Can anyone suggest how I can get a bottle shipped to San Francisco as my friend picked 1 for me.

@DevD Believe me, I've investigated shipping spirits inside the USA and the official rule is: it's illegal. But there are ways around this. 1) Put it in a well padded and non-bottle shaped plain box. Go to a post office and lie when they ask you if there's any liquid. I've done this and it's nerve-racking. If they catch you it's big trouble. 2) Have your bottle shipped by a seller with a license to ship alcohol. Problem here is they only ship stuff you buy from them. 3) call it "collectable glass" and ship it, again not mentioning the contents of the glass. 4) have your friend deliver it to you personally. 5) a fifth method I haven't investigated but know about is to find someone traveling in that direction and have them deliver it for you. Craigslist? Whatever you choose remember these United States are the most backward and inanely governed in the civilized world.

@DevD I concur, shipping liquid (liquor or otherwise) is illegal. Too bad the timing was off — I was just in the Bay Area visiting my family... I think the idea of hooking up with someone on craigslist is a decent one. Also, ask your buddy if he knows anyone headed your way. I find there's always someone around going to CA. We made quite a few purchases in the Bay Area because overall CA liquor prices are significantly lower than WA, and the selection is also notably better. I wouldn't be surprised if you could return the favor depending on your friend's tastes.

@Wodha, Can I get my friend to ship it to a liquor store in California, as I have a friend who owns a liquor store in the Bay Area.

Washington state has put the Ardbeg Alligator on sale for $50. Had a friend pick up a bottle for me. Now just need to find a way to get this shipped to the San Francisco Bay area
