- Brand: Ardmore
- ABV: 54.1%
- Batch: Refill ex-Laphroaig Cask
Druma Mor is a Belgian bottler with Geert de Bolle at the helm. He selected this Ardmore that matured on a former Laphroaig cask. Exciting, no?
The nose starts rather closed, so give it five minutes. Then it develops beautifully and offers fruity notes of apples, pears, green banana and pineapple on the one hand and soft smoke, earthy notes and some shoe polish on the other. That’s quite a lovely nose.
Sturdy arrival tob e sure. The sweet fruit is now overcome by vanilla, barley sugar and herbal notes (garden herbs), while the smoke is enhanced. Ah, the combination of the peated spirit from Ardmore and the Laffie cask put their stamp on this malt. Very good.
The finish is nicely long, smoky and sweet.
Quite impressive for such a young Ardmore, I must say. Thanks to Buds & Barrels for the sample. Tom has the bottle on offer for around 80 EUR.
