After putting the labels on our very own Save Lars Whisky, we were offered a few things in the shop. Apart from a great Talisker 24 Year Old Talimburg for the Whisky Fair and an out of this world Glenlivet 43 Year Old 1970 Cadenhead Small Batch, my buddy Imanuel spotted this Ardmore. Not even 35 EUR. Let’s grab it, he thought. And today, I will try it again.
The nose is quite mineral. Wet rocks, a touch of sweet peat, hay, vanilla and pears. Rather soft, but inviting.
On the palate, it shows good body with some spices. Pretty sweet in fact. Fresh. Peach? Apples? It is hard to pinpoint. It does have a cardboardy edge, but far from disturbing. Midpalate, I get some salt and a bit of oak. All in all a lightweight.
The finish is medium long, but remains fresh. The finish is where the fruit is clearest to end on a whiff of smoke.
A young, flawless and fresh Ardmore. Thanks, Imanuel!
