Not so long ago I tried the Ardmore 12 Year Old Port Finish which I liked a lot. And then suddenly I saw this one: Ardmore Tradition. Wait a minute. Should that not be Traditional Cask? Apparently that one is no longer in production and was replaced with this one. Oh, whell, what’s in a name? It is still the mildly peated Highlander of old. The nose is not sweet at all, but very green. Reminds me at first of broth or chicken soup. Some exhaust fumes. Hay on a pyre. Well, I cannot say that I really like this. The mouth feel is quite already, but it is somewhat flat taste wise. The smokiness increase and some fruit appears. A lost peach on some vanilla. Ginger and peat are the leading tastes here. But it never becomes grand. The finish is medium long and smoky and becomes surprisingly sweet. Pity, I had expected a lot more here. Around 45 EUR which is not too bad considering.
