If you say Whiskywarehouse, you say Eric Vermeire, the lovable importer of Gordon & Macphail, Wolfburn, Clan Denny and Murray McDavid for Belgium. In 2018 he selected this 13 years old Aultmore to be bottled exclusively for his company in the Reserve series from G&M.

Very herbal nose on green garden herbs, Maggimix and apple juice. At the same time, I get some buttered white toast, stewed rhubarb and pear syrup. It also has a dirty edge, if you know what I mean. In whiskyspeak this is usually a compliment. That is the case here as well. Lime and gooseberries appear after some exposure to oxygen. Some toasted oak kicks in.

The body is light. The herbal side returns and evolves quickly towards molded wood. Very nice! The fruit becomes candied with orange peel up front followed by baked apples and some grapefruit that adds a sour and bitter note. Some woodsmoke, black pepper and ginger make it warm.

The finish is medium long, warm and lingers quite long.

Lovely Aultmore, but alas no longer available. Thank you, Benny.
