Believe it or not, after close to 1.600 whiskies tasted, I have never tried an Aultmore. So this will be the first. I immediately choose a 20 Year Old, bottled by the Italian Wilson & Morgan, from a sherry butt.
Lovely sherry on the nose: toffee, rum raisins, freshly ground coffee and some garden herbs. Think chervil and thyme. Evolves to slightly farmy and even a bit of broth. I quite like it.
It is sweet and dry on the palate with a nice spiciness. More dark fruit, the dried variety, and some cloves. Cake and liquorice. Hints of baked banana and some orange juice. Maple syrum. It is fine like this, so I will not add any water.
The finish is fairly long and warming and sweet all the way, somewhat cognac-style. Nice!
This is a very quaffable sherried Speysider. Recommended! Around 90 EUR.
