This is only my fourth Aultmore, but the first three were far from shabby. Maybe I should try to find some more Aultmore to try. This one was bottled by Carn Mor in their prestigious Celebration of the Cask series. It is no less than 29 years old.

The nose is very aromatic, I must say. Loads of lemongrass, butter, applesauce and almond paste. Wonderfully sweet and creamy. A hint of caramel makes it sweeter still. Tarte Tatin comes to mind. I quite like it.

The arrival is creamy and spicy. A bit of pepper and some woodspice, but also loads of oak. Liquorice, ginger. The fruity sweetness of the nose stays behind. Mostly lemon shines through, but not much else. This one takes thrives mostly on the spices.

The finish is warm and long with again the oak that gets the final say.

Just a tad too much wood to be grand, but nevertheless a very nice Aultmore. Around 180 EUR.
