This 10 years old Ballechin was selected by The Nectar from Belgium. It is known that Mario and his team have a very strong connection with Signatory, owner of Edradour distillery. This one matured on a refill sherry butt and has a fantastic color. It is bottled at cask strength. I am very much looking forward to this one.

Oh, my! Wonderfully dark and sweet on a truckload of toffee. Werther’s Originals. But wrapped in a blanket of smoke. Mokatine. Arabian coffee. Some raisins and tobacco, but mostly all kinds of variations on caramel. For the sweet tooth among us (like me).

Despite the high ABV, this arrives without scorching your tongue. While the saliva glands to into overdrive, I taste a lot of citrus fruit and apricots, dades and oranges. The caramel rears its sweet head. And spicy! Nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon. All wonderfully dark and sweet, with underlying smoke. The smoke becomes more intense with every sip. It is even a bit umami. Roast beef? Wonderful.

The finish is longer than an episode of Temptation Island and futhermore a lot more interesting and sexy.

Outstanding Ballechin that makes me long for a second glass. Seducer!
