I've been interested in hearing about this one too, but around here it's $120 before taxes. For $88 I'd say go for it.

I saw it for 129.99 USD at my local store near Chicago, sound like a good price.

The best I've seen it for in my local area is $99.99 and it ranges up to $144.99.

@DevD I ranked the 17 Peated and 17 Madeira about equal. Just ok, not great. I preferred the 17 Rum to either of them, but thought the 15 Single Barrel and 12 Signature Batches 1, 2 & 4 bettered all three 17s. Just me. The $88 (US?) is a steal compared to the usual retail.

@DevD -- Unfortunately, I've never tried it. The only Balvenies I've tried are the 12, 17 (Peated), and 21.

I had a bottle of this a couple of months ago. It is very good as long as you like sherry finish whisky. I would say that it add another layer than the sherry cask finish. I loved it all the way. Not as good as the Port wood of course.

I saw on sale for $69.97 here in MN and since my x-mas bonus was paid on Friday I snatched one bottle up (the store was 20 miles away, but it was worth it to save $40.00 off the prices that I saw around my house).
I'm going to crack it open tonight.
Jeez, this is an expensive hobby so I'm glad I got a break!

After opening it, I must say that I'm somewhat disappointed. The first dram was almost tasteless, I was expecting it to have some "pop" as it were.
I partook in another tasting tonight and it's a little better, but I honestly prefer their 12 YO Doublewood expression over this (and it's about $30.00 cheaper!).
Don't think I'll be buying another bottle though.

Hi I would like to know how is the Balvenie 17 Madeira Cask, I've tried all the other expressions of Balvenie viz 12, 14, 15, 17(Peated) and the 21(Portwood). I chanced upon this single malt in a store which is selling it for about $88(after tax), don't know if I should take the plunge.
