I saw this shared somewhere else and thought some here might find it interesting. It relates to the difficulty in finding Ben Nevis 10 and what is happening for the distillery. Scroll down in the link to the first 'review' for the info. whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/…

@Hewie - Thanks for the link.

That's very interesting. I'm a little confused by the whole selling and buying back of casks and why the parent Co. would advise them to cut back production if the product was selling well - I'm no Dicky Branson but isn't that (the opposite of) business 101?!

I knew distilleries held casks for others but this sounds as if a competitor was prepared to use BN casks under another name and vice versa. Maybe I read that wrong but I thought that was very 'naughty' - unless the plan is to blend them? I wonder which distillery(s) he's on about?

The honesty is refreshing (especially about cost) but I get the feeling he's perhaps not the happiest with some of the decisions being made . . .

I recently opened a 10 and it's very good so I'm keen to see what else this distillery can produce. I get the feeling this could rival the likes of Benromach and Springbank if it got its act together.

@RianC Yeah I agree - I couldn't quite understand the interactions between the distillery and the parent company - it just doesn't make sense. He appeared to be answering questions fairly candidly which makes me think the responses weren't in or for the public domain. He doesn't seem very happy - it would be sad to see the distillery be run to ruin.

@Hewie - Yeah his P45 is being sent as I type smile

Agree also about the distillery - I've not been inside but have walked past and it's in one of the most beautiful landscapes one could imagine.

There is a new bottle of Ben Nevis for sale in the Netherlands. It's the Ben Nevis 2015 Carn Mor single cask. It's peated. The price is €45,99 . Maybe it is also for sale in your country too.

@NamBeist - Can't see anything over here but I did notice that the McDonald's Traditional Ben Nevis is back in at MoM.

Had anyone tried the Dew of Ben Nevis 12 blend? It seems to get good reviews and I do like a good blend. I'm getting the impression it probably sits in the same slot as JW Black?

I think he is referring to casks being shipped to Japan for Nikka to include in some low price point NAS blends on the market

Sounds like the parent company is doing a pretty poor job of parenting. The end is nigh?

Seems reasonable to put this here - Just seen the standard 10 is back in at MoM but now selling for £50!? That's nearly £20 more than last time out!

Granted, £30 was a steal, but £50 is taking the piss.

Hi all. Coincidentally stumbled on this thread now after trying this one today cgarsltd.co.uk/stalla-dhu-single-cask-ben-… It's more than £50, but was my first Ben nevis and it was pretty excellent! Worth having a look at this chaps I think as they're getting going now

@Wierdo Yes... I didn't buy one. Single cask, carefully selected, by all means, but as concerns the price I agree with you. Or, put differently, that's not how I'd prioritise £140 on whisky.

That said, the dram was excellent! :-)
