Nose: Whoa, obviously rich from the go. Thick toffee with some citric notes. Oxidative sherry is the foundation here. Some smoke, too. Honey, caramel, flowers, and oodles of raspberry-strawberry jam pudding with bitter-butter biscuits. Heavy on dates, with fleck or two of chocolate. Maybe some walnuts.
Palate: Medium-thick body on entry. The oak helps to balance and keep this from being too sweet. More on honey, dates, the off/sour notes, and nuts. The sherry influence is light at first, but develops over time in the glass. Nice, but not as rich as the nose.
Finish: Ah, here we are. Soft wooden influence, and the sherry comes out more. Mainly on some of the less sweet aspects. Dates, chocolate, maybe a slight bit of nutty coffee (weak). It's got a lot less fruit here; it's fairly non-distinct. Decent finish and good length. An enjoyable romp with a very good blend.
