I've several times had what I think was the standard Michter's Bourbon (the younger one). There are other special expressions of Michter's as well, I believe. Very odd bourbon, strangely medicinal...drinkable, but I am definitely not a fan. If you are looking for strictly unusual, I would say that it qualifies.

Redemption is a bottler, but I don't know whose distillate the bourbon comes from. Heaven Hill is a good guess. I haven't had any, because I wasn't crazy about their rye. Redemption Rye is Lawrenceburg Distillers Indiana Rye (LDI), and probably the most basic very young rye which they offer for sale. It is very inexpensive here, but you do better with Bulleit or one of the other LDI ryes, such as Templeton, or maybe the new George Dickel Rye (which I haven't tasted yet).

Don't know about Big Ass or Pearse Lyon.

I've had Michter's "Small Batch Bourbon" (there are a couple different offerings from Michter's). I find it to be a very nice and drinkable bourbon that you can relax with but little complexity there. They talk about some kind of "filtering" so I guess it's charcoal filtered. Interestingly, I had Ezra Brooks which is a charcoal filtered Heaven Hill bourbon, and they had a lot of similarities. Michter's was much more refined and seemed better aged. I ended up vatting the two and they meshed beautifully, so I guess that Michter's is also Heaven Hill... kindof like a less woody Elijah Craig.

All in all, I would only recommend Michter's if you're looking for a "drinking-while-doing-something-else bourbon" - it's good for that but probably will lose interest if you're looking for complexity.
