I've been waiting to open this beauty up for sometime now . Bottle details- cask type bourbon / Sauternes Aged in Chateau d'Yquem cask Bottled 2010 at the Bruichladdich distillery Limited to 2300 bottles
Nose citrus aroma with toasty hints Tastes banana hits my taste buds instantanly, then with a vanilla apple flavor with its peaty finish Mouthfeel is semi thick and chewy like the Sauterenes I've sampled before Finish is decent, wish it was longer but pleasant all the same

@viperstd, congrats on your first connosr review. Different batches of Balvenie 21 YO Portwood are drier vs sweeter, and also lusher vs more austere, than others. My current bottle is unusually dry and austere, and, while still lovely, not as rich or possessing of a sweet balance than all of the other samples I have had of this whisky. Balvenie 21 YO Portwood generally does lean heavily toward the dry side, especially on the finish. It is best if it also have a noticeable sweet balance.
