Im not 100% sure about this, but the Springtide seems to be a cask strength version of the darkest. Dave, the spirits expert at my local claims its poor mans Bowmore Black. Well its cheaper than the black but much more expensive than the darkest and only available in travel retail.
Nose: sherry, violet, Turkish delight, figs, dates, chocolate éclairs, macadamia nuts, some kirsch liqueur, there is also a hint of brine and balsamic vinegar
Pallet: crème caramel, orange liqueur developing into dryer spices, tobacco, fruit concentrate and brooding smoke.
Finish: bitter chocolate, some anchovy, mocha, and bonfire smoke.
Mark neat – 9
Bowmore goes so well with sherry, this is an excellent whisky whether its worth $360 AUD is up to you but it is stellar stuff. But that price tag is lofty.

Thanks for this, and for filling a missing spot I was wondering about ( connosr.com/wall/discussion/… ). Incidentally, the poor man's Black should be the newish "Black Rock" that appeared in travel retail 2 months ago. I grabbed one but will sit on it until colder seasons.
Any thoughts on Springtide's comparison to the wonderful Laimrig?
