I've never tried white dog. It's not really intended to be sipped neat like whiskey, as far as I know (though it's not against the rules). BT's #1 mash is the distillate that turns into Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, George T. Stagg, and maybe others. Mash #2 is the higher-rye that goes into Benchmark, Elmer T. Lee, Blanton's, Rock Hill Farms, et al.

I tried the BT White Dog Rye Mash last Friday. Wasn't really impressed.

Has anyone tried this? I was given a bottle as a gift, and wanted to hear if anyone has experience with it. It is 62.5% ABV, clear white, and is a corn, rye, and malted barley blend. It is a raw distillate; the precursor to bourbon. Had a couple sips so far. WOW!!! Very heavy alcohol burn, almost a tequila-like nose, definite corn palate, with a bit of leather and wood on the finish. Lots of alcohol taste and aftertaste.
