Matured on refill American oak.
N: Strangely enough, the nose of this old grain is rather spirity. Although I get hints of Galak Popri (white chocolate with puffed rice) and whipped cream, it is mainly notes of varnish and ecoline that stick the stick. Cru to say, but this old grain feels too young on the nose. S: It's creamy and soft in texture, quite lactic (is that a word?) on vanilla, coconutmeat and caramel paste. The spiciness slightly drowns out the sweetness, which also makes it a bit drying. F: That continues in the long finish, which pushes this grain back towards wood shavings, varnish and resin. C: I confess that I expected myhonor from this. Not a bad grain, of course, but I already had much better Cameronbridge for much less money.
