I don't remember how much it was. We split it (me and 2 Brothers) and I remember it being around 350 Pounds Sterling. I was amazed at the price at the time and was how I convinced my brothers to do it. I don't think you can buy them from the US. You may need a UK address. This was when Bruichladdich just got Jim McEwan - they were just changing into the Bruichladdich we all know today!

@WTC Thanks for the link! That is exactly what I have got except it's a big barrel and not sherried. It's a shame that all of these private casks will only be tasted by a very few people,

@peatsmoker --Or is it wonderful that these casks will be privately held and appreciated? I find that enchanting. Every barrel from every distillery is different; but almost all are married into batchs of thousands of other barrels, to make a possibly fantastic but hopefully consistent dram.
In other words, the tendency is to move away from uniqueness and toward recognizability. Yours is unique. And I--well, I'm quite envious...

@peatsmoker it sounds much cheaper until you add in the duty and bottling costs! Mind you, 350 sounds like a great deal for a decent size cask, bet it costs more now. How many litres?

True. The fees at the bottling end of it work out to about 10 Sterling/bottle x 200 litres= you do the math. I feel slightly negligent for not having visited the distillery at least once during the process but I'll have to go to get it. Can't wait!

I bought a cask of whiskey from Bruichladdich about 10 years ago. They hold it for 10 years and then there are a number of options of delivery. My cask will be ready in 2011 and I was wondering if anyone else had been through this process or had any insight into the different options? It is a Bourbon cask of Port Charlotte.
