maltster great idea! Blind tasting is the correct way to taste if you wanna destroy the external influences. I like to blend my open bottles in order to discover new flavour. I like so much change frequently the percentage of blending.

@maltster Great call on the blind tasting. I have done this a couple times with my wife. You are correct, it is fun, educational and the results can really surprise you. It was much easier to give an honest opinion of a whisky when there was no label in front of you. Highly recommend doing this.

Although I try hard to not be influenced by the name or price or colour of a whisky when I do my samplings/tastings I must admit that I am. To evolve my senses and go further down the road on the path of my whisky experience I decided to change the routine of my tastings: every now and then I ask my wife or a whiskybuddy to pour me some random samples into little vessels/glasses which are numbered and I do a blind tasting. You can also do it on your own but then I recommend to wait for about 1-2 weeks to make sure that you do not remember which numbers belong to which whisky (but you should take notes to check afterwards...).
I really recommend it to all of you because it is immensely educational, good fun and provides really astonishing results - you can even try blindfolded.
Do you have any experiences with changing your routine?
