@Donski Happy Christmas! I've got a 1997 Longmorn from Berry Bros and a 28 year old Caperdonich. Both excellent. I also have a 30 year old Tomatin I'm planning a dram of after lunch.

No whisky but did receive 2 books, 2013 Whisky Bible, and The World Atlas of Whisky. I was also very fortunate to receive 2 Riedel whisky glasses. Hope everyone had a enjoyable Christmas.

Merry Christmas! I got a Compass Box Flaming Heart (3rd ed.) and was able to try it last night. Sadly it disappointed, but was pretty good. Maybe it'll improve in time.

@Donski: Happy Christmas! I recieved quite a few quality Malts for Xmas and a J.W. Gold with the abomination of a pouring top, that doesn't pour - Removed the entire top (with some difficulty, I can tell you, and a cut finger to boot) only to find that the top no longer fits; 'put it in good decanter, though it'll need more than large glass to fix this rather hard blend. How do you tell a family member that the gold edn. is not in the same class as the cheaper Green Label (that they used to give)...I guess you don't!
For my Boxing Day milestone 70th. birthday, an H/P18yo. and an Ardmore Trad. 46%.and it's only early yet.
Slainte!

@Donski My wife bought me the whisky calender from Master of Malt that has 24 different whisky samples in it. They're just 30mls, but considering I'm always trying to find new whiskies to try this has been an awesome gift! Single malts, bourbons, rye whiskies and blends! There are quite a few samples in it that I'm REALLY looking forward to trying! And the holiday season is still young!
Happy Holidays everyone!

Broke open my Ardbeg Galileo for afters... Not bad, but I had to return to my open bottle of Alligator to have a truly holly jolly day. Another disappointment was the 18 YO Glenmorangie I opened with friends a couple of nights ago. Ah well, they can't all be winners can they?

@Donski I got 2 bottles my wife got me a Mackinlay Highland Malt ( Shackleton Whisky) & a Kilchoman Winter 2010 Release. I was very surprised to get these two, I'm a big fan of Sir Ernest Shackleton but it's a big price for me, aren't wives awesome. :)

My awesome wife gave me a bottle of Highland Park 18 for Christmas. Just added to the cabinet and will be trying for the first time this evening. To say I'm looking forward to this is an understatement. Merry Christmas to all!

@Donski haha you're welcome my friend! It was a service that I was more then happy to do for Connosr :D Like I said in one of the reviews, I'm trying to order several more calenders as they are so far such a great deal!

Christmas came early this year. My wife gifted me two tickets (one for her) to the first real full scale whiskey festival ever held in our city, the St. Louis Whiskey in the Winter Festival, held on Dec. 1st. We came away from that with orders for a bottle of Glen Grant 10 year old for her, and a bottle of Laphroaig 10 year old Cask Strength for me.
On Christmas morning, I found a bottle of Johnnie Walker Double Black under the tree from my two kids, and a bottle of Compass Box Great King St. New York Blend. The New York Blend, is a limited edition, bottled at 46%, non-chillfiltered, and with no coloring added.

Great thread and happy Xmas to all of you!
I had a great time with my family and lots of good food. I got a hip flask which is really awesome, now I can take a good sip while being in the nature :)
Some new whiskies I will buy the upcoming days, finally got to taste some more Bourbons...

My wife and I don't do Xmas presents; at this point all I really want is to spend the day with her. That didn't stop her from picking up an Abunadh as part of the groceries though. Very thoughtful and altogether delicious.

Received a 20cl bottle of Oban 14 from my wife, along with three books - "101 World Whiskies to Try Before You Die" (from my brother), "Canadian Whisky: The Portable Expert" (from my parents-in-law; technically for my birthday), and "The World Atlas of Whisky" (from my parents-in-law). Sampled Islay Mist 8 at a friend's annual Christmas party, and had a dram of Talisker 10 with my brother on Christmas Day.

Overall, I was very fortunate this year:
Writer's Tears (from my wonderful wife...this will be opened in the near future, once my Bushmills Black Bush is finished)
Lot 40 Copper Pot Still Canadian Whiskey (from a good friend)
Smokehead (thank you @WhiskyJoe!)
Longrow CV (before it is reformulated...made possible from 'proceeds from Christmas Gifts' from family/friends)
Sullivan's Cove Double Cask (from a good friend of my wife and I, in California...a very nice surprise to get one of the more 'obscure' whiskies - at least in North America - from my wishlist).

@Pudge72 Longrow CV gets reformulated? What does that mean in particular?
11 years ago 0
@Wills...my understanding is that the current CV bottling contains some older (17 yo?) malt within the blend, and that a new bottling will be coming out in 2013 that will have a generally younger composition of malts. The reformulation will drop the 'CV' appellation. @Two-bit Cowboy could likely provide more precise info than I can. I would appreciate any further details/clarification myself from others with regards to this change.

Found a few Willett's for christmas myself , a Willett 5 yr Rye and a Willett 7 yr Bourbon . Also bought the Willett 9yr early in December and it did not last long. Got a Four Roses OESQ to boot , the two Willett bourbons and the Four Roses being Binny's single barrels . Was a great ending to the year. Hope you enjoy !@Bourbondork
