@RAMurphy, that is a great guide to Bay area distilleries. Excellent information for those of us from away. Thanks for sharing.

@RAMurphy, thank you for the generous offer. A trip to the bay area is on my bucket list, both sides of the bay, perhaps a home and home series, A's and Giants....and a couple of distilleries.

@RAMurphy I'm in the process of writing a marketing report on craft American Whiskey and most states have some very strict laws on production, distribution, and sale of distilled spirits. These laws are way more stringent than on beer and wine industry. This regulation is probably one of the biggest reasons why the only way to really sample many of the craft whiskeys the consumer has to go to the producer, the producer can not ship the product to the consumer. New York is a state that has a large collection of craft whiskey distillers so that is a great place to visit but it probably wont be on a budget. Oregon, your northern neighbor, and Washington State do as well. If you're looking for a reasonable long weekend trip, it may be worthwhile to map out Oregon and Washington State distillers and take a quick trip up north.

Hi everyone! I’m new to the group. I’ve been on for a week and have been reading around at various posts. Really loving the conversations.
I’m really into local, craft distilleries. When I travel I try to pick up a local bottle wherever I go. I’m also lucky enough to live in the bay area, where there are a number of distilleries close to home.
I just published an article on the best distilleries in the SF Bay area: whiskeytramp.com/blog/2018/2/18/the-whiskeytramp-guide-to-bay-area-whiskey-distilleries. I really enjoyed doing that as it brought together information I wish I had already. I say this all to ask, where should I focus on next? I was thinking NY, but I thought I might be better off drawing from the combined experience in this group. What is the most exciting whiskey producing region of the US?
