I cannot help but think that the article is only giving an incomplete part of the story, both from Tate's point of view/experiences, and from the board of directors. That said, sharing of control, and to some degree direction, of a business often comes with taking money from others (outside investors, public offering, etc). Even if the purpose was for expansion and growth of that business. Tate might be finding that out the hard way. But again, I feel there is more to this story than we have been told so far.

The K&L Spirits Journal blog recently had a link to a normal (non-whisky!) news article about some craziness going on at Balcones between Chip Tate and the company's board.
