Creations Sweet Fruity Spice

Go ahead and call this a special bottling. Cadenhead created this with whisky that had matured solely on sherry casks for at least 20 years. It was bottled for Vinothek Massen in Luxemburg and Flander’s Finest Cask Selection in Belgium. That latter group consists of De Cluysenaer, The Single Malt Whisky Shop in Zammel, PROOF from Ghent, Drinks shop Broekmans and TastToe.

Juicy yet drying nose on fruit tea left unattended, gingerbread, honey, vanilla and some black pepper.

On the palate you’ll notice that the fruit tea from the nose turns into forest fruit with some mint, while some maple syrup, cloves, glühwein and chewing tobacco kicks in. No misnomer – Sweet Fruity Spice – that’s for sure.

The finish is medium long, mildly dyring and reveals the fact that some grain whisky was also involved as I now get a hint of wood glue and freshly sawed planks. Dusty and spicy.
