This will certainly help clear things up: whiskynotes.be/2009/whisky-news/…
I have tasted quite a few Old Bothwell Port Ellen's and a number have been very good. This was one of the best. Anything with Luc's involvement tends to be to my tastes though: whiskynotes.be/2010/port-ellen/…

they're a small company which seem to have plenty of Port Ellen casks (I've heard they actually have more casks than Diageo themselves) and they regularly release cask strength bottlings, mostly 1982-83 vintages...I've bought three of their bottles but currently only one is open and it's really good, though I have no way to compare it to other PE since this is the only one I've tasted. Serge Valentin, however, seems to consider Old Bothwell's releases as the most similar to the official ones...scores are almost always in the high 80s or low 90s, for what is worth...in a nutshell, good to very good stuff and one of the few ways to get cask strength PE at a reasonable price (about 100 euro per bottle)! Oh and the guys are very kind and helpful! Hope that helps!

@lucadanna1985 Thanks for the info, I will definitely look into finding a few bottles. Sadly I live in Chicago and it will be difficult to locate as well as expensive to order.

@ssmith84 Try to send an e-mail directly to the company, they've always kept a bottle aside for me and sent it with comparatively low shipping rates, even if it will be a bit (euphemism) more expensive to the USA...

I ran across and independent bottler that I had never seen brought up or talked about with anywhere really, or at least never noticed before. Has anyone on here ever had any experience with Old Bothwell? I googled them and found very little outside of them making personalized whisky labels and having a large stock of Port Ellen, being part a large part of the interest. Thanks in advance for the help.
