There are three whiskies that, in my humble opinion, show a nice waxiness and those are Clynelish, Deanston and Dailuaine. And of the latter, the latest release of Asta Morris is now in my glass, bottled at 52% and with such a beautiful retro label with a frog on it. Knowing Bert, this will be another autumnal candy. We'll see.

Ah, nice and beautiful, bright, slightly floral and freshly fruity, playful nose. This smells like young apples and vanilla with something of hazelnuts and oatmeal porridge. Lemon sorbet. Very accessible. Aside from the fact that this one fits perfectly with this season, it might as well be a spring whisky for me.

That all comes back to the palate, but in a very waxy jacket. Nice and creamy, even. Sticks well to the teeth. And nice and spicy with a touch of pepper and licorice. Tingles pleasantly on the tongue. Some late lime peels. Young, certainly, but very pleasant and dangerously drinkable.

The finish is relatively long, sweet and softly peppered.

This is another typical Asta Morris release. And with its price tag of 78 EUR really a 'whisky for everyone'. Thank you, Bert!

Thanks for your review, Mark. I don't think I've ever seen a proper Dailuaine release here in Ontario. It's a shame; I enjoy both Clynelish and Deanston so I'm sure I'd enjoy this one. Oh well, I suppose I'll have to look out for it on my travels.
