Dalmore The Trio

Dalmore The Trio lends its name from the fact that three different types of casks were used to finish this single malt, namely ex-bourbon, tawny port and Matusalem sherry. It was released to the travelling public in 2019 at airports around the world. I got a sample from my good friend Benny VDB.

The sweet nose mainly offers red fruit, freshly baked brown bread and soft wood spices. That's followed by sultanas and dried apricot, figs and juicy plums. Vanilla and some caramel will follow later. Pleasant and almost typical of the house, I would say, but it is by no means earth-shattering.

The body is a bit on the light side, but the taste is good. Nice and sweet on cinnamon, dark and dried fruit, candied orange peels, vanilla, dark honey and even some maple syrup. Strawberry jam and ginger are added. The wood gets a little louder.

In the medium long finish I get something floral, mixed with cold coffee and cinnamon. Gently drying.

Quite a nice Dalmore. Between 80 and 100 EUR, which I honestly find a bit on the expensive side for what you get.
