My first Dalmunach! Well, I tasted a young malt before that might be bottled under the banner of MMM, but it was – although very interesting – not of a nature that I would like a whole bottle of it myself, so we let it pass. Klubb23, on the other hand, did find a suitable cask from Duncan Taylor. A Dalmunach 2015 that matured on oak barrels for six years before finishing 9 months on an octave, a much smaller cask. If you know that on the site, where Imperial used to be, they have only been working since October 2014, then you know that this is from the early days.

On the nose I get pastries with apricots, syrupy honey and some mandarin. Rum-raisins and vanilla and something of dried grass. Very sweet and very accessible.

Nicely oily and immediately sweet and sour on agrums, walnuts and candied orange peels. Clearly an active sherry cask. Milk chocolate and some brown bread. Rum-raisins. Orange liqueur. Cloves and liquorice are the spices on duty. This is very good!

The finish is medium-long, softly seasoned and warm.

Well, I'm pretty impressed with this, aren't I? The difference with the Dalmunach 2015 that I previously tasted as a possibility for MMM could not be further removed in terms of taste profile. This is already rich and round. Unfortunately there were only 87 bottles available and these went very fast. Rightly so.
