My first meeting with whisky from my home country:) At 43%, double distilled in a single pot still, unfiltered and uncoloured this is quite a crafty presentation:) It technically a blended multigrain single distillery/brewery whisky. They aged it for 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels they first used for aging their Imperial Russian Stout. So I assume the barrel comes from Wild Turkey. Only one barrel was made so far, so this should be one of the +-700 bottles.
Nose: Chamomile, bandaid, dry heather, rubber and pine tree resin.
Palate: fresh citrus notes, and flowery honey in the arrival and it soon develops into sweet grain, charcoal and even some eucalyptus.
Finish: medium length with some creme brulee, wood, warm apple and finally... there is a hint of dark beer.
Although I expected more from the beer barrel influence, this is not bad a start in the Dutch whisky region. Still a bit young, but tasty and challenging. For those seeking new strange flavours, try getting one!
