Like the 'standard' No Age Statement Ellington Canadian Whisky, the Ellington Reserve Canadian Whisky 8 yo appears to be an export-only product. There is no information given on the distillery from which the whisky originated. The whisky is described as having been "aged in charred oak barrels"

Nose: caramel, floral, slightly chemical. Sweet. No wood or grain to speak of

Taste: sweet, caramel; unlike the nose, rather woody, actually; bitter, but not as bitter as is the No Age Statement Ellington Canadian Whisky; a little bit of grain and wood flavour, but not enough to matter; chemicals

Finish: sweet, bitter, chemical, and pretty short

Balance: eight years of aging is wasted here. This Ellington Reserve is not something of which you want even a 99-cent 50 ml bottle, which, with another 6 cents of tax, is what I paid for it

Thank you @Victor - love these public service bulletins, they are more entertaining than the 'hallelujah moment' reviews posted by some members.

In baseball there is the Mendoza Line, American culture has the Mason-Dixon Line, and these pseudo-drams are End-of-the-Line.

I'm suggesting a score of 60 as the low-water mark or the "paper bag" line.
