You might want to pass on this one. Here's why. Last year, I bought both the limited edition small batch and the limited edition single barrel. Both were good, but the small batch was great. Sour Mash Manifesto rates the 2012 Ltd Single Barrel a 9.5. It rates the 2012 Ltd. Small Batch a 9.8. I am anticipating much the same with the 2013 limited releases.
The 2013 Ltd Small Batch will hit shelves this fall, most likely Sept / Oct during the mad rush for Pappy and Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection. Now would be a good time to begin laying the groundwork for this one while stores are swamped with Pappy and Stagg requests.
This year's Ltd Small Batch will be a similar to last years, MINUS the 11 year OBSV. The remaining 3 mash bills will be the same, but 1 year older: an 18 year OBSV, a 13 year OBSK, and a 13 year OESK. The Four Roses website breaks down those mashbills/recipes. It is also worth noting that this release will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Four Roses.
In closing, that 2013 Ltd Single Barrel is probably good. But the 2013 Ltd Small Batch is going to be epic.

Does anyone know much about this bourbon? Evidently, people are saying the 2012 was a little better than the 2013. I have a bottle on reserve at the local liquor store. Just wondering if I should go for it.
The cost is $87 (includes tax). This bourbon is sold out most places around the country by now (a few months after its release). Bourbon snobs loved the 2012, but I'm not sure about the 2013. Sour Mash Manifesto raved about the 2012, but there's zip about the 2013 up on the website.
