For gifting Aberlour 10yo. for me and mine the real thing Aberlour A'bunadh batch #36 - 'Haven't tried this version, yet, but I can say that it looks heavily sherried, if the deep mahogany colour is anything to go by.

@lucadanna1985 Wow you are a lucky man to have a girlfriend like that!
Personally I'm still looking but I am leaning towards HP 18, or bruichladdich 18 yo second ed. I'm wanting to get something a little special for myself outside of my usual. I hope everyone has a great Christmas!

I think I'll be cracking the two miniatures of Glenfarclas 40 that I got at the distillery. They've got Christmas written all over them. Best of the season everybody. Be safe.

@BlueNote Holy Step-Mother of Satan! Glenfarclas 40? Where do you live? I might need to do a drive-by "shooting"... I've had the 15 and it was fabulous. I can't imagine the 40.

I'm thinking Lagavulin 16 as a present to myself, maybe Suntory Hakushu 12 too.

@Wodha They are just minis, but even at that they were bloody expensive. But, hey, I was there, they were there, you know how it happens. Cheers, brother.

A trio of shapely stocking-fillers await me this festive season; a Johnnie Walker Gold Label to kick off proceedings on Xmas Eve, " Whisky of the Year 2012" Old Pulteney 21 to take things up a gear on the big day, and my first foray into "high end" (hopefully) bourbons with Elijah Craig 18 year old single barrel to accelerate into the New Year...Happy Xmas and Merry dramming to you all. Here's to your good health....

Dramlette and I were just in Toronto for six days, visiting and dramming with Pudge72, Whiskyjoe, thecyclingyogi, cpstecroix, and talexander. Thanks to all of you guys for a wonderful time from both of us! I consider the Aberlour 10, Cragganmore 12, Yoichi 10, and take-home samples of Arran Amarone and Benromach PX which we received from 'the laddies' to be my whisky Christmas presents.
For gifting, I am giving my local male relatives Jim Beam Black Label, and I am giving a bottle of Bookers Bourbon to a friend.

@lucadanna1985 Well, I'm hoping to stock up some more Toshans, sure. But my family always keeps the present very secret. So check back in a week :)

My wonderful wife surprised me with a Corryvreckan as an early xmas present so I'm all set. I fancy getting a Jameson Select Reserve to sup on Christmas Eve as I'm setting up my son's new train set..bliss.

@DevD going for Aberlour A'Bunah with that real deep and dark flavour...Excellent to follow a nice xmas pudding with brandy sauce...

@Rover Do you have a favorite A'bunadh? I've got a problem with collecting those. I like them, so I usually buy two of the batch when I get them. It's not like I plan on holding on to them and selling them later, I just collect them like hockey cards...

Just before Christmas, my wife and I got each other gift sets of whisky. I got her a Glennfiddich 12 set with a Glencairn glass, and she got me The Glenlivet 12 set, with two Glenlivet/Glenciarn tumblers.
On Christmas, among the gifts from my immediate family, there was a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask from my wife and daughter.
I also bought two bottles of Bourbon Whiskey for two friends that are American Whiskey fans.
One got a bottle of Buffalo Trace.
The other got a special bottling of Maker's Mark with the trademark wax seal layered in red and white! The bottling was to commemorate the 2011 Major League Baseball Championship team the St. Louis Cardinals, whose team colors are red and white.

As usual, my family try to keep the gifts a secret, even from other family members. This resulted in the somewhat unfortunate event of getting three bottles of Auchentoshan Classic. Oh, well. Since I'm a Toshan Man, they are not wasted.

@markjedi1 I always feel less guilty drinking a good bottle when I know I have another unopened one.

I've just ordered 6 bottles of Glencoe 8yo from Royal Mile Whiskies for the looming holidays. Some for me, some for gifting.
What are you buying specifically for drinking or gifting during the holidays?
