Nose: Candied and floral, like a bag of sugar, waxed flower petal nibs. Iris, lavender, and violets. A drop of lemon oil amid orange blossom honey. Faint hint of oak, very soft. Spun sugar. Well, you get the idea. (with water) Bright and more pronounced malt. Still honeyed and floral. Really a lovely and magnificent nose.
Palate: Sweet, honey, floral, and flower wax. Spicy ginger and more forward oak. Rather sticky oil as well. Bitter mango, melon rind. Orange pith. Bitter tropical fruit (and lots of wax). (with water) The wax and ginger are drawn out more and the fruit fades. Less oily and sticky, but we're in the same territory here.
Finish: A short-medium finish. Fairly straightforward on the whole, no surprise punches or flavors. It's richer and more flavorful, especially on the palate, neat. Water draws out the sweet malt on the nose. On the whole, this was special neat, and very good with water - and I really enjoyed the nose neat, but it didn't do the palate as many favors. B+
